- If you want personalized substance abuse treatment that meets your individual needs
Unique features of our treatment approach:
- Private, Totally Confidential - Our discreet office-based services located in NYC and Princeton NJ are ideal for high-functioning men and women who want their treatment to remain strictly private and confidential.
- Motivational, Not Confrontational - Our motivational approach is designed to encourage and empower positive change. We focus on clients’ strengths, not weaknesses, and teach them how to mobilize these strengths to achieve lasting recovery from substance abuse and related emotional and psychological problems.
- Choice – As our name implies, Recovery Options is about choice. We offer a menu of treatment options and respect our clients’ right to choose their own treatment goals. Clients can choose individual therapy, group therapy, or a combination of both.
- Flexible, Individualized Care – We recognize that clients with alcohol and drug problems are not all alike and that no single treatment approach works best for everyone. We work collaboratively with our clients to develop customized treatment plans that address their individual needs.
- Addiction Psychotherapy – We address not only the substance abuse behavior itself, but also the emotional and psychological issues (e.g., self-esteem, intimacy, sexuality, assertiveness, anger) that are often intertwined with the substance use– as well as psychiatric problems such as depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.
- Our Integrative Approach – Blending the best practices of addiction counseling and recovery-focused psychotherapy, our Integrative Treatment Approach, developed by Dr. Washton over many years, facilitates both behavioral and emotional change to help prevent relapse, improve functioning, and enhance overall life satisfaction.
- Treatment by Addiction Psychologists – We are a group of psychologists and other professional psychotherapists who specialize in treating substance abuse and related mental health problems, as well as the core emotional and psychological issues that often underlie addictive behaviors.
- AA Involvement: Encouraged, Not Mandated – We actively encourage and support our patients’ involvement in AA and other 12-step programs. Recognizing, however, that 12-step programs are not acceptable to everyone and that AA is not the only pathway to recovery, we do not mandate AA involvement as a requirement for receiving our help.
- Special Treatment for Healthcare Professionals – We understand and respect the unique issues faced by medical caregivers struggling with their own addiction. For over three decades, Dr. Washton has provided totally confidential treatment that addresses the special needs of addicted physicians, pharmacists, dentists, nurses, physician assistants, podiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
